An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Costing & Procurement Engineer to join a specialist engineering company in Hailsham. Key Responsibilities:
As a Costing & Procurement Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the company’s costing, purchasing, stock control, and supplier management functions. Your duties will include:
- Managing the purchasing function, including RFQs, purchase orders, and stock control.
- Coordinating with manufacturing, production, and design teams to ensure smooth workflow.
- Identifying cost factors such as production time, materials, and labour.
- Developing accurate cost estimates, considering design, manufacturing, and support costs.
- Tracking actual costs against cost control structures and ensuring budget compliance.
- Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to meet production and project deadlines.
- Expanding and managing the supplier base to support company growth.
- Interpreting technical engineering drawings and specifications.
- Supporting sales and finance teams with cost analysis and budget planning.
- Working closely with design engineers and production managers to align purchasing with project needs.
Skills & Experience Required:
To be successful as a Costing & Procurement Engineer, you should have:
- Strong experience in purchasing, procurement, and cost management within an engineering environment.
- The ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings and specifications.
- Excellent negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relationships.
- A background in cost estimation, tracking actual costs, and managing budgets.
- A proactive approach to workflow coordination between manufacturing, production, and design teams.
- Knowledge of materials, production processes, and supply chain management.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Degree or HND in an engineering-related subject.
- Full UK driving licence and ability to travel globally when required.
Working Hours & Benefits:
- 37.5-hour working week.
- 22 days of holiday in Year 1, increasing to 25 days from Year 2 (plus bank holidays).
